Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
NEW YORK – Eclipses Group Theater New York collaborates with Dimitris Dimitriadis and Kamala Sankaram for the world premiere of Dimitriadis' play In Chorus. The play will be presented on Friday, June 25 and Sunday, June 27, 7 PM at Astoria Park, facing Ditmars Boulevard, and on Saturday, June 26, 6:45 PM, at 31st Avenue and 34th Street in Queens as part of NYC Open Streets.
Playwright, novelist and poet Dimitris Dimitriadis received the Greek National Literature Award in 2003 and is considered one of the preeminent contemporary Greek playwrights. Theater Odeon in Paris (in 2010) and Onassis Foundation in Athens (in 2013) paid tribute to Dimitriadis’ work. His plays have been performed in significant theaters and festivals in Europe, such as the Festival D'Avignon and the Athens Festival.
Composer Kamala Sankaram has been praised as “strikingly original” (New York Times), and a “new voice from whom we will surely be hearing more” (Los Angeles Times). She has received commissions from the Glimmerglass Festival, Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Beth Morrison Projects, the Prototype Festival, Opera on Tap, Opera Memphis, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, among others.
In Chorus, by Dimitris Dimitriadis, with original music by Kamala Sankaram, is directed by Eclipses co-artistic director Ioanna Katsarou.
