BOSTON – The Boston area has a lot of good Greek restaurants – the scene is booming, including Opa Greek Yeeros in the abutting city of Somerville, which is near Eat Greek Gyros, the two competing with more in next door Cambridge too.
The two Greek eateries with similar names are just a few minutes walk from each other in the funky neighborhood of Davis Square, which has a subway stop and is close to Tufts University, and a popular area.
Opa Greek Yeeros has reopened after being shut down in February over back taxes, said Cambridge Day, while Eat Greek’s other locales are only in Spain.
Eat Greek also has Greek-inspired cocktails but it’s the food drawing attention, with its curious takes on Greek food, such as the Pomegranate Explosion with goat cheese, apple slices, and pomegranate seeds.
Then there’s the Paros bowl with grilled octopus, tomatoes, and cucumbers dressed with a hot Tirokafteri sauce of thick, savory feta that’s a Greek staple favorite with those green biting peppers.
