Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
WHITESTONE, NY – The Dormition of the Virgin Mary, Kimisis tis Theotokou, was celebrated at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Whitestone, beginning with the Great Vespers service on August 14 and then the Orthros and Divine Liturgy on August 15. The faithful filled the church amid the scaffolding for the iconography project that is currently underway. Artoklasia services were also held as many parishioners were also celebrating their name day on the Feast of the Dormition.
The community’s presiding priest Fr. Nicolaos Paros presided over the services and spoke about the Virgin Mary in his homily, noting that she inspires us all the more to welcome Jesus Christ into our lives as she did. He also shared his best wishes to everyone for the feast day and for all those celebrating their name day.
