FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Daughters of Penelope (DOP) Narcissus Chapter 289 held its Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon on October 16 at the Lighthouse Point Yacht Club with 145 present to support the PACE Center for Girls of Broward County. The theme was “Audrey Hepburn” and everyone dressed in style. The event also included raffles and a silent auction.
The chapter had its own Daughters model the beautiful fashions sponsored by Dazzles, a boutique in the Lighthouse Point area. The elegant centerpieces were designed by chapter member Melissa Bakatselos who worked closely with the event’s chairperson, Erin Ryan.
The special guests included the DOP Presidents from West Palm Beach Maria Balasis Zahn and from Boca Raton Iliyana Simeonov-Boyce, and Past Grand President Elizabeth Athanasakos. Also present were DOP Citrus District 2 Lodge Marshall Mona Kapakos and her husband AHEPA District Warden Chris Kapakos, District Treasurer Judith Koutsos, District Governor Eftyhia Kirkiles and her husband, AHEPA Supreme Counselor Demetrios Kirkiles.
In addition, Aggie Pappas, Vice President of Program Innovation and Strategic Implementation from PACE, was the guest speaker. Pappas has made a positive impact in the lives of girls ages 11-18 over her 29 years with PACE. She inspired the chapter to continue doing the good work of raising money to support their programs since they have a high success rate of transforming these young girls into productive citizens. The Narcissus Chapter presented Pappas with a $500 scholarship check as a part of their tradition with the PACE program of Broward County. The scholarship is awarded to a senior who is entering a nursing program.
As Audrey Hepburn said: “For beautiful eyes, look; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone for the good in others.”
