“Today was a beautiful day for the Ilion Chapter. We celebrated our 77th anniversary. Our Chapter was amongst the first Chapters to be initiated into the Daughters of Penelope in the first 20 years of the organization’s inception over 90 years ago. We continue to hold the traditions and values of the DOP and forge ahead welcoming new members and helping our community. I am honored to be a part of this Sisterhood and can only hope that we make our predecessors proud as we continue the legacy of our Sisters,” stated DOP Ilion President Effie Argyropoulos when asked what the day meant to her.
Also in attendance were Hermes AHEPA Chapter 186 of Astoria Brothers Vice President Peter Argyropoulos and Secretary Louis Kokalis who came to congratulate and support the Ilion Chapter.
The Ilion Chapter plans on holding more events in the future as they continue to grow. They are actively recruiting and initiating new members. If you would like to join the Daughters of Penelope Ilion Chapter 135, please e-mail Effie Argyropoulos: [email protected].
