DOP Athens Ch. 39 in Binghamton, NY Celebrates 1st Anniversary of Reinstatement

BINGHAMTON, NY – Daughters of Penelope (DOP) Athens Chapter 39 celebrated the holidays early on December 2 along with the upcoming first anniversary of the reinstatement of their chapter. Chapter President Lauren Papastratis welcomed District 6 Governor Lainie Damaskos-Christou along with Lt. Governor Marina Patelos and DOP District Advisor Maria “Cookie” Patelos who joined the sisters for their monthly meeting and dinner supporting a local restaurant. These Sisters are united and full of ideas to grow their chapter including a large initiation in February. They are ready to get involved with events throughout New York State by attending the District 6 Convention June 14-15, 2024 at Rivers Casino at Mohawk Harbor Resort in Schenectady, NY. The chapter appreciated the closer Schenectady location since it would be less than a two-hour drive rather than double that to go to the New York City area for conventions. In addition, some may attend the AHEPA Supreme Convention in Larnaca, Cyprus in July of 2024. The Sisters will continue to sell their branded Olive Oil as their fundraiser and look forward to potentially chartering the first Maids of Athena chapter in Binghamton while closely working with their Brother AHEPA chapter.
