DIALOGUES Webcast: The Challenge to the Economy

ATHENS – The SNF DIALOGUES discussed the impacts of COVID-19 on the global economy.

As part of a series of online discussions on the complex and multifaceted issues arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the SNF DIALOGUES have addressed the need for social distancing and the quality of information available to the public. On Wednesday, May 13, the DIALOGUES  turned to the nascent economic impacts of the pandemic and the social disruption they are causing worldwide. The health crisis of the pandemic has spawned a socioeconomic crisis that is already manifesting serious effects in Greece and abroad. Through a live webcast inviting participation from the public, the DIALOGUES discussed the impacts of the pandemic on the economy, the rapid rise in unemployment, and new geopolitical balances.

– Costas Meghir, Professor of Economics, Yale University

SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos also joined the webcast to discuss SNF's Global Relief Initiative for the COVID-19 pandemic.
