Despina Kotsis Shares the Latest News on Her ‘Minx New York’ Brand

NEW YORK – Greek-American Despina Kotsis, Designer and Founder of Minx New York shared the latest news about her urban streetwear brand.

“I have some very exciting news that just happened that I also wanted to share and still cannot believe,” she said via email on March 11. “Over the weekend, I met up with the most famous family on TikTok, the D’Amelios, at their footwear pop up at Shopify in NYC and gave them ‘Dope Eye’ hoodies and spoke to them about Greek Heritage Month! I got to take pictures with them as well! It was SUCH a great experience! Here are some photos I would love to share with you! I still am shocked this happened!”

The Bay Ridge, Brooklyn-native began running her own business at the age of 18, and most recently announced the launch of her new line “I ’m Happier in Greece” in honor of Greek Heritage Month. Her roots are in Thessaloniki on her mother’s side and in Chalkidiki (paternal grandfather) and Evia (paternal grandmother) on her father’s side.

Kotsis said via email on March 7 that “‘I’m Happier in Greece’ is more than just a saying, it’s a feeling, it’s something people can relate to, and this all starts with our beautiful country, Greece!”

Nia Vardalos is among the famous faces who have expressed appreciation for Kotsis’ designs, reaching out on social media with the following post, “I love this and it’s designed by a NYC Greek woman #greekgirl #bonus minxnewyork.com” and showcasing Kotsis’ clothing in the most recent sequel to My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
