Dallas Will Have to Wait for New York’s Avra Seafood Restaurant Arrival

July 11, 2024

DALLAS – Seems like it might be a tough sell in barbeque and cattle country to convince people to try Greek-style seafood but Dallas is awaiting a branch of the upscale New York City restaurant Avra that features it.

Construction is under way in the city for a 14,000-square-foot seafood restaurant  that co-founder Nick Tsoulos, from Nafpaktos, brought to the Big Apple and featured the kind of seafood his seaside town has, and fresh vegetables.

Tsoulos claims “there is no concept like ours in Dallas,” and ” It’s true that pricey “Greek food has not infiltrated Dallas yet, though we do have some upscale seafood restaurants,” said the Dallas News.

Due to open in 2025, it’s not going to be a casual diner, but a high-end restaurant with an enclosed, glass cafe called “the conservatory room.” In 2023, the Michelin Guide named Avra in New York’s Rockefeller Center as one of its go-to spots for a power lunch, the paper said, a good sign for Dallas’ business crowd.
