NEW YORK – Globe Entertainment and VIP International present George Dalaras The Songs of Our Life with Michalis Tzouganakis, featuring Aspasia Stratigou Alexandros Tzouganakis & Band on their North American tour to benefit the charitable organization The Ark of the World (Kivotos tou Kosmou) January 31-February 28, 2020.
Dalaras begins the tour with a performance at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem on Friday, Jan. 31. Dalaras will share the stage in this tour with Michalis Tzouganakis, the well-known musician from Crete.
Dalaras, apart from his brilliant career as a singer, is also a musician, as he often likes to say. In this performance, along with singing the songs we all love and know all these years, he highlights his lifelong love of the guitar and other popular instruments. Together with six soloist musicians, he performs his favorite songs – those arranged for this group are selected from his greatest hits, and others are unexpected, perhaps not so well-known songs from throughout his long career in music.
Michalis Tzouganakis, a composer-soloist for lute and a singer, will be performing as well. Dalaras and Tzouganakis are connected through a long and constructive musical relationship in Greece and Europe and a through deep friendship. Joining them is the exceptional Aspasia Stratigou and the young Alexandros Tzouganakis, musician and singer, Michalis’ son, who continues in the tradition.
An original and authentic performance, enriched with love and yearning closes the distance between musician and audience in a breathtaking performance.
