Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
NIKOSIA – Costas Kadis, a biologist who is an Acting Dean at the School of Health Sciences at Frederick University on the island has been tabbed by the government as its choice for its spot on the European Commission, not designated yet.
“Dr. Kadis’s experience from the various institutional positions he served in the Republic of Cyprus at various times, as well as his academic skills and training, were the key elements in his selection for the important position of a commissioner,” wrote government spokesman Konstantinos Letympiotis.
POLITICO noted he had been a Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment until February 2023 and that if approved he would replace Stella Kyriakides, who earlier said she didn’t want a second term.

She had been the EU’s Health Commissioner for a five year term and wished Kadis good luck, writing on X that: “I wish much success to my friend the proposed commissioner @CostasKadis.”
