Cyprus Health Minister Gives Support for Natural Childbirth

NICOSIA – Health Minister Michalis Hatjipantela has okayed promotion of natural childbirth in Cyprus after a meeting he had with the nurses and midwives association (PASYNM) that will develop the program.

The group said it was satisfied with the meeting that wasaimed to find ways to  strengthen the profession and practice of nursing and midwifery in the health care system, The Cyprus Mail said.

The agenda included improving and speeding up training, attracting young people into the profession, appropriate and safe staffing of health services, and creating and expanding services for the promotion of natural childbirth.

PASYNM officials told him about their concerns that they face and an announcement after said he had adopted their recommendations for a strategic plan for the development of Nursing and Midwifery.
