Cyprus Consults with Foreign Experts Regarding Turkey’s Provocations

Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides told parliamentarians that the government will seek assistance from foreign experts regarding what Cyprus can do in response to provocations in its exclusive economic zone.

A meeting took place on November 12 at the Law Office of the Republic where possible legal measures were examined

Turkey sent a seismic exploration vessel `Barbaros` into Cyprus` EEZ. Turkey issued an illegal maritime order (NAVTEX) for the area.

According to the Minister, there are civil measures to be considered in addition to measures relating to criminal law and arbitration.

There was apparently no discussion about how concerned Ankara might be about such measures.
