ATHENS -- The Ministry of Culture and Sports, as part of the institution "All of Greece, one Culture", will present the performance "Athenian State - from Theseus to Solon" put on by the National Theatre, at the Archaeological site of Eleusis on Wednesday, September 9, at 19:00 in the evening.
The work "Athenian State" is an anthology of texts by ancient historians (Herodotus, Thucydides, Aristotle, Plutarch, Diogenes Laertius, etc.) and other historical-archaeological sources (inscriptions, archaeological texts), which reconstruct, through a series of episodes, the adventurous course of the Athenian regime towards democracy (7th-6th century BC).
These are five independent, narrative "stories", adapted in dramatic form and for theatrical performance, which continue thematically in a single historical-political context. The chapters tell stories such as the Cylon Agos, the legislation of Solon, etc. These stories are presented for the first time in theatrical form in important archeological sites and museums, the most ideal "theatres" - for their performance.
