In its second online festival, Counterpoints, the Greek National Opera (GNO) draws inspiration from and sheds light on the relationship between Greek art music and architecture.
The festival, curated by Giorgos Koumendakis, will present important compositions by major Greek composers such as Leontaritis, Konstantinidis, and Kalomiris against the backdrop of some of the greatest buildings of Athens, including the Church of the Holy Apostles at the Ancient Agora, the Gennadius Library at the American School of Classical Studies, and the French Institute.
The festival will take place from October 29 to 31 and will be streamed online through the GNO’s website and communication channels (nationalopera.gr, Facebook and YouTube) as well as through the website of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, digitalculture.gov.gr.
The festival is made possible through a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) that supports the GNO’s artistic outreach.
