Constantinides Suspends All In-Person Canvassing, Prioritizes Public Health and Safety

March 13, 2020

QUEENS, NY – Costa Constantinides issued the following statement on coronavirus (COVID-19) and the state of the Queens Borough President race. He urged we remain calm, unified, and vigilant during these times:

“Public safety is my top priority. In order to protect the well-being of our team, our volunteers, and all Queens residents, effective immediately, our campaign has suspended all in-person canvassing and is transitioning our voter contact to calls, texts, and digital outreach in the interest of public health.

“To be clear, we are still running a campaign and encourage Queens residents to utilize early voting, which begins Saturday, to avoid a high volume of people on Election Day.

“If there is anything we can do to help you during this challenging time, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our website is www.VoteCosta.com, our email is costa@costa4queens.com, and our phone number is 347-494-0460. Thank you.”

Costa Constantinides currently serves in the New York City Council, where he represents western Queens and chairs the Committee on Environmental Protection. His legislative accomplishments include the Climate Mobilization Act, a Green New Deal for New York City, as well as the historic 80% reduction by 2050 of carbon emissions commitment. Costa lives in his native Astoria with his wife and son.
