ASTORIA – New York City Council Member Costa Constantinides, District 22, issued the following statement on his absence from last night's Fiscal Year 2021 vote”
“Last night, I was once again forced to go to the hospital with complications from COVID-19. This hasn’t been the first time since I contracted the virus in late March. You don’t know how frustrating this has been, as I want to fully focus on my job. But breathing is at times difficult, especially as the weather gets hotter. This was the first time I missed a budget vote. While I was not able to make a stand last night, I am committed to using whatever time I have left in the Council to fight for a scaled-down police department.”
Council Member Costa Constantinides represents the New York City Council’s 22nd District, which includes his native Astoria along with parts of Woodside, East Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights. He serves as the chair of the City Council’s Environmental Protection Committee and sits on three additional committees: Sanitation, Resiliency, and Technology.
