QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President candidate Costa Constantinides on January 30 issued the following statement on receiving $476,697 in matching funds from the New York City Campaign Finance Board:
“The numbers make one thing clear: this is a people-powered campaign that’s ready to Transform Queens,” said Constantinides, progressive Democrat for Queens Borough President. “Our grassroots movement to fight climate change, improve our schools, and create a better Queens transit network had the lowest average donation of those who qualified for matching funds at $187. More than 1,000 unique donors gave to our campaign, which demonstrates Queens’ residents want a stronger borough and a brighter future.”
Costa Constantinides currently serves in the New York City Council, where he represents western Queens and chairs the Committee on Environmental Protection. His legislative accomplishments include the Climate Mobilization Act, a Green New Deal for New York City, as well as the historic 80% reduction by 2050 of carbon emissions commitment. Costa lives in his native Astoria with his wife and son.
