Constantine Dracopoulos Has Passed Away

ATHENS – Constantine Dracopoulos, one of the closest associates of his uncle, the renowned ship owner Stavros Niarchos, has passed away.

According to the Alumni Association of the German School of Athens, Constantine Dracopoulos graduated in 1943-1944. He also graduated from the Hellenic Naval Academy, beginning his career in shipping. He worked in businesses based in New York before joining Niarchos London Ltd. in 1953, where he assumed the role of Director of Shipping.

For nearly 30 years, he served as Chairman and CEO of the Hellenic Shipyards S.A. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of International Shipping Agencies S.A. for almost 20 years. Additionally, he was a member of the Board of Directors of numerous prestigious organizations, including the Hellenic Association of Business and Industry, the American Bureau of Shipping, the Hellenic Shipowners’ Association as well as the Bank of Greece, among others. He served as chairman of SNF’s Greek Advisory Committee from 1996 to 2004.

A resolution on the death of Constantine Dracopoulos was also issued by the Philharmonic Society of Mantzaros of Corfu.
