ATHENS – The General Confederation of Greek Workers is holding on Friday a 24-hour strike in order for the working class to pay tribute to its history, its struggles and its dead.
According to an announcement, the Confederation and its member-organisations respecting the applied protection measures due to the pandemic, this year they only laid wreath at monuments without holding any rallies. In Athens, GSEE laid a wreath at the firing range of Kaisariani for the 200 executed by the Nazis on May 1,1944.
"The antidote to the new crisis that experiences our country is solidarity and we salute the workers in the health sector and in other places of labour whose work is necessary for the saving lives and the offering services and products. However, we will not allow this solidarity to be used as vehicle for the state's and the employers' arbitrariness and exploitation of the workers" GSEE said.
