CHICAGO, IL – George Mavropoulos, Director of the Asia Minor and Pontos Hellenic Research Center (AMPHRC), announced the organization’s revival of the GoFundMe campaign for the documentary film Lethal Nationalism: Genocide of the Greeks 1913-1923.

AMPHRC is a 501(c)(3) certified non-profit organization, with its key mission being to produce and disseminate resources about the Greek communities in Asia Minor (Anatolia), Eastern Thrace, and Pontos.

Mavropoulos said via email, “We’re very excited to involve our community in our latest fundraising efforts, especially after our successful Chicago private screening on December 7, 2019 and the positive responses we received from so many who attended.

Of the fundraiser, he said, “With these funds, our organization will be able to include translations and subtitles in several languages, and new archival material (material from this period is scarce) to the documentary. We intend to gather as much relevant material as possible, which takes countless hours of research. Once photo images and film/video are located, these must be digitally enhanced and converted. Additionally, new sketch animations have been created to enhance and illustrate the recollections of survivors who offer their eyewitness testimony. These vital animations give life to their tragic stories where the actual images do not exist.”

Mavropoulos said, “Any amount you can contribute will make a difference. Please also share our fundraising link above with your network, your friends, and your family.”
