ASTORIA – A festive Tree Lighting Ceremony with carolers singing Christmas songs will be held in Athens Square Park, 30th Street and 30th Avenue in Astoria, on Wednesday, December 2, 6 PM.

Originally scheduled for Monday, the inclement weather led to the rescheduling of the outdoor event. Phyto Stratis, Artistic & Music Director at The Pancyprian Choir of NY and President of Cyprus New York Productions, posted a video on Facebook on Nov. 30, announcing the change of date.

Konstantinos Lambropoulos also posted about the rescheduled event, noting that “we must remind all who plan to attend that there will be a strict adherence to all safety COVID-19 protocol with no exceptions. You must wear a facial mask and keep six feet social distancing. As much as we want to invite the holiday spirit amongst our community, we must also protect and respect each other's safety and health. Accordingly, there will be a live stream of the event at Hellas FM, CosmosFM, and Facebook.”

“We wish you all a safe and healthy holiday season,” Lambropoulos concluded.
