Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Guy Fieri’s restaurant show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives can make an eatery and now he has featured King Gyros Greek Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio with an episode showing off “gangster Greek” food.
That’s a menu with “flavor-forward faves like fully loaded lamb chops and signature stuffed grape leaves,” said the episode’s description, shining attention on places he likes, arriving in his symbolic red sports car, noted The Columbus Dispatch.
King Gyros teased that it would be on the show and invited customers to guess what would be showcased and to let their favorites be known. There’s a lot to choose from with picks like dolmades with lamb chops along with the giant gyros.
The site Tasting Table noted earlier that besides traditional dishes there is a feta burger, and a Cajun chicken gyro and one with chicken and barbeque sauce, which you won’t find at a gyro joint in Greece. It’s thanks to owner Yianni Chalkias who opened it in 1991, coming from Rhodes at 10 years old.
