ATHENS – The Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens announced the unique creations by contemporary Greek and foreign designers available in the Cycladic Shop, including the Museum’s charm for 2023, the Sun, as great gift options for the holiday season.
Life-giving energy of nature, symbol of unlimited power and triumph over darkness, the Sun symbolizes stability, abundance, positive energy and peace. Its significant influence is recognized and reflected in the worship of all cultures. The gilded Sun of the Museum of Cycladic Art designed by Varvara Mitseli gives its light to the new year heralding joy, hope and happiness.
Among the gift options at the Cycladic Shop, the jewelry stands out, as every year with designer Lito inspired by the abstract simplicity of the Cycladic figurines, “transforms” the marble sculptures and creates exclusively for the Museum of Cycladic Art a unique piece of jewelry for the modern female deity. Christina Soubli designs for the Cycladic Shop a bright bracelet inspired by the simple forms of Cycladic art, while Ileanna Makri designs a necklace with a Cycladic form, exclusively created for the Museum.
A staple and favorite value of the Cycladic Shop are the ceramics of Thomas Kotsigiannis, who is inspired by the representations of ancient Greek vases and creates, as every year, colorful ceramic pomegranates, symbols of good luck and prosperity.
The Cycladic Shop also collaborates with Korina Roumeliotis, Margarita Myrogiannis, Manousos Chalkiadakis, Katerina Moraiti, Angelos Panagiotidis, Ygrec, Danai Gianneli, Vally Kontidis, Venetia Vildiridis and others.
In the Cycladic Shop as well as in the e-shop of the Museum you will also find a wide range of ornaments with Cycladic figures, Christmas scented candles, unique decorative items for the home and office, toys and books for all ages.
