SOUTH EDMESTON, N.Y. – Greek yogurt maker Chobani says it will end up with more full-time workers after eliminating fewer than 100 jobs at its upstate New York plant and adding jobs at its nearby headquarters and in New York City.
Chobani officials said the layoffs at the plant in South Edmeston will involve mostly production workers. They say the losses will be more than offset by adding more than 100 new jobs at company headquarters in Norwich, New York and in New York City, which is a growing sales and marketing hub.
The net gain in jobs doesn’t include the temporary workers being laid off at Chobani’s plant in Twin Falls, Idaho. Chobani, the biggest seller of Greek yogurt in the U.S., says the “organizational adjustments” will support the company’s growth.
