Charitsis: Gov’t Must Complete Hiring of Permanent Medical, Nursing Staff

ATHENS — "Τhe government must complete the process for the hiring of permanent medical and nursing staff that was initiated by SYRIZA and is still pending," underlined main opposition SYRIZA spokesperson Alexis Charitsis on Open TV on Thursday, commenting on protests by doctors and nurses outside Sotiria hospital in Athens.

On Greek-Turkish relations, Charitsis said that "the government is not addressing the constantly increasing Turkish aggressiveness with the necessary seriousness," and referred to "palinodes and different viewpoints between the foreign and defence ministries".

"We have a barrage of Turkish military aircraft flights over the Greek islands and Evros region and the government spokesperson states there is no tension," Charitsis noted and said the government made a strategic mistake in linking the refugee issue with Greek-Turkish relations.
