Botanical Painter, Philanthropist Niki Goulandris Dies

ATHENS – Botanical painter and philanthropist Niki Goulandris died on Saturday at the age of 94.

Goulandris, born Niki Kephalia, was married to Angelos Goulandris with whom they founded the Goulandris Museum of Natural History.
Former deputy minister for Social Services (1974-75), former Secretary of State for health in Greece (1974), honorary deputy president of Hellenic Radio and Television (1975-80), and member of the World Commission on Culture and Development of UNESCO, Goulandris was mostly known for her struggle for the environment. She dedicated her life to meditation, science and studies.
