Biden’s Position Now Even More Difficult

In the post Trump-assassination-attempt era that we are living in, (political) life naturally continues, as generally happens after a major event.

The Republican convention is in full swing.

An unusually emotional Trump, who considered emotion a weakness, entered the convention hall with a large bandage on his ear, where the bullet hit him, with his fist slightly raised, drinking in the enthusiastic applause of the delegates.

He also announced his choice for vice president, a 39-year-old freshman senator from Ohio, whom his supporters regard as the Obama of the Republicans.

The election campaign is therefore in full swing, with Trump starting with the best omens possible for a November victory.
And while this is happening, President Biden continues to claim in various interviews and speeches that he will be the Democratic candidate and that he is the only one who can defeat Trump.

He is wrong. The opposite will happen. Even before the assassination attempt against him, Trump was the favorite. Now, after this, Biden’s chances of winning have diminished even further.

Therefore, it is necessary to shift the campaign from Trump and Biden’s health issues to political matters and addressing the country’s problems. And this cannot be done as long as Biden continues to be the Democratic candidate.

For this reason, the sooner he suspends his re-election campaign, the more time he will give his potential successor to prepare and convey his or her message to the people.

Otherwise, Trump will be the certain winner with all the consequences that entails for the country.

Televised debates between candidates for top government positions are useful, not only because we learn about their views on important national and global issues—though those can change over time as candidates gain more experience—but also because we get a better sense of who they are.
