Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
A Bloody Mary is an easy drink to mix, but a difficult one to perfect. This Greek version has basilico as its green garnish, and can be just as refreshing on a hot summer day, if not more so, than celery.
THE VODKA: Smirnoff is a very underrated vodka in the United States. Ask a Russian, Estonian, Latvian, Moldovan, etc. about vodka, and you’ll hear that Smirnoff is their brand of choice more of then than not.
OTHER INGREDIENTS:
1 lemon wedge
1 lime wedge
2 dashes Greek sea salt
4 0z. tomato juice
3 dashes Tabasco Sauce
2 teaspoons horseradish
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 dash Ground black pepper
Glass: Pint
DIRECTIONS:
Squeeze the lemon and lime wedges into a shaker and then drop them in.
Add all other ingredients except the basilico.
Add 2 1/2 ounces of Smirnoff vodka (or other brand) and fill shaker with ice.
Fill the pint glass with ice.
Strain the mix from the shaker into the pint.
Garnish with a sprig of basilico.
Enjoy!
