Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
NICOSIA – The Bank of Cyprus is breaking away from its stock market listing on the London Exchange in favor of Athens in September, subject to approval from shareholders and government regulators, it said.
The bank has called a shareholders meeting in Nicosia for Sept. 13 to approve the move, it said, adding that the company plans to list its shares on the Athens Stock Exchange (ATHEX) on Sept. 23, said Reuters.
The bank said it expects its ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange will be suspended from trading at the end of business on Sept. 18, and the delisting will be effective Sept. 19.
The Cypriot bank, which listed in London in 2017, has said the Athens bourse offers it the opportunity to boost its visibility in a market more complementary to that of the company, the news agency reporter.
“Trading in the more focused ecosystem of ATHEX and the increased potential for peer comparison has the potential to attract long term institutional holders to the company,” it added, despite the Athens market history of volatility.
