Every time people try to get out of Greek Tony’s Pizza and Subs in Norton Shores, Michigan, the Italian sub pulls them back in.
“It’s pretty ironic since we’re called, ‘Greek Tony’s,’” founder Tony Moulatsiotis, an immigrant from Greece, who opened the place in 1981 told MLive/Muskegon Chronicle – while preparing an order.
That’s how Greek restaurants work, with family and non-stop, the reputations for good eats built with an unstoppable work ethic. From 1994 on, Tony’s son and current owner, William Moulatsiotis, has kept it up and people keep coming.’
In a suburb of Grand Rapids on the shore of Lake Michigan, it was said to be a favorite of locals and then of first-timers who become regulars and not just for the Italian subs. It’s Greek, after all.
“If you’re looking for a local pizzeria, we’re your spot,” William Moulatsiotis told the news sites, although it also offers subs salads, pitas and the super special Gyro Pizza that comes topped with Greek feta cheese, Greek olives, green peppers, onions, tomato and the restaurant’s own vinegar and oil dressing.
