Australia’s Governor General, David Hurley, to Carry Out Official Visit to Greece

ATHENS – The Governor General of Australia, David Hurley, is to carry out an official visit to Greece on May 1-3, at the invitation of the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

His visit will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier at noon on Tuesday and an official reception at the presidential mansion at 12:05. This will be followed by a meeting with President Sakellaropoulou at 12:15, after which Hurley will make his way to the Maximos Mansion for a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 13:00. He will then attend an official luncheon in his honour at the presidential mansion at 13:30.

On Tuesday afternoon at 16:30, Hurley will be given a tour of the Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis archaeological site and at 19:00 he will meet George Katrougalos, who will be representing the leader of the main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance party, Alexis Tsipras.

On Wednesday, May 3, the governor general and President Sakellaropoulou will travel to the island of Limnos to attend events commemorating the fallen in the Gallipoli campaign, 108 years ago.
