Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS – The noted shipowner Athanasios Martinos will be declared an Honorary Doctor of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) at a ceremony that will take place on October 2, 2024 at 7:00 PM in the Grand Hall of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
At the same time, he will also be awarded the title of Great Benefactor of the same institution for his contributions to EKPA in his capacity as President of the Athanasios & Marina Martinos Charitable Foundation
Program:
• Welcome address by the Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Gerasimos Siasos
• Introduction of the honoree’s work and life by the President of the Medical School of EKPA, Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos
• Conferring of the honorary title
• Reading of the official documents of the resolution by the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, the proclamation, and the Doctorate Diploma by Dr. Arkadopoulos
• Dressing of the honoree in the academic gown of the Faculty of Health Sciences by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Pagona Lagiou.
• Bestowing the title of Great Benefactor of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on
o Reading of the resolution by the Senate and presentation of the honorary medal to Mr. Martinos by the Rector
