ATHENS – Riding high in the polls at home and Greece’s economy having investment grade status and coming back fast, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will use the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to explain it.

The rebound hasn’t helped many households or consumers though as his New Democracy government is trying to find ways to hold down high prices in a country with low wages and one of the world’s highest income taxes.

He has successfully lured a range of international investors, including tech giants and pharmaceutical companies, into further deals that, along with record tourism, have spurred growth.

He will meet with business leaders, including senior executives from major companies operating in the fields of technology and energy among those eager to cash in on Greece’s comeback..

Mitsotakis will also meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and take part in discussions on Greece’s position in Europe and the world and the European Union’s energy goals.

He has also scheduled a number of interviews with major international media outlets, including CNN and Bloomberg business news service to discuss the country’s rapid recovery after a 2010-18 economic and austerity crisis almost led to an exit from the Eurozone of countries using the euro.
