Armed Forces Building Artificial Obstacles and Other Works Along Evros Border

EVROS, Greece — The Armed Forces have begun setting up artificial obstacles and battle positions, to repair lookout posts and also to install lighting along the Greek border in Evros. The works are taking place at the same time as the construction of a 26 km-long fence. They are being carried out with the instructions and directions of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), with the participation of the engineering units and construction squads of the Armed Forces formations in the region of Evros.

The aim of the works is to facilitate the job of the Greek police and Frontex when conducting patrols, surveillance and to safely prevent illegal entry into Greece.
