Archon Religious Freedom Conference 2023 Preparatory Delegation in Athens

BOSTON – A delegation of the Order of St. Andrew, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate has traveled to Athens Greece on a Religious Freedom mission. From there they will go to Monte Carlo in Monaco to meet His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who will be there on Saturday, January 21.

The delegation includes His Eminence Metropolitan Emmanuel, Geron of Chalcedon, Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander, Order of St, Andrew, Judge B. Theodore Bozonelis, National Vice Commander, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Fr. Alexander Karloutsos, Spiritual Advisor, and Archon John J. Mindala. Accompanying the delegation are Helen Bozonelis and Presbytera Xanthi Karloutsos.

On Sunday, January 15 they attended the Archieratical Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Theodoretos of Laodicea at the Aiolou Church of Saint Irene in Athens Center. Metropolitan Theodoretos, who is the Director of the Patriarchal Office in Athens, hosted a dinner in honor of the Archons Delegation in Athens at the Electra Metropolis Hotel.

On Monday the delegation was scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at Megaro Maximou followed by a Dinner in honor of the Archon Delegation hosted by Ambassador George J. and Mrs. Olga Tsunis at the Ambassador’s Residence.

Meetings have also been scheduled with Professor Athanasios Meletios Dimopoulos, Rector of Athens University, and Archon Athanasios Martinos, President of the Archons organization Pammakaristos, Mrs. Martinos, and Metropolitan Theodoretos at Mr. Martinos’ Office. A luncheon was also scheduled to be hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Martinos in honor of the Archon Delegation hosted at the Estiatoria Papaioannou in Kavouri.

Meetings were also scheduled with Niki Kerameos, Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, and at Athens City Hall with the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis. A dinner will also be hosted by the Archons Delegation in honor of the Mayor.

The delegation will meet with His Beatitude Ieronymos, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece at the Archdiocese, and there will also be meetings with Takis Theodorikakos, Minister of Civil Protection, with Foreign Minister Niko Dendias at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and with Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Minister of Defense, at the Department of Defense.

On Saturday, January 21 the delegation will fly to Monte Carlo for a dinner in honor of His All-Holiness hosted by the Consul General of Greece to Monte Carlo at his home.

On Sunday, January 22 the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by His All-Holiness at the Virgin Mary Chapel in Monaco.
Following the service, His All-Holiness will bless the investiture of four new Archons: Petras Machas, Konstantinos Tzouvelekas, Grigoris Stasinopoulos, and Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

The cutting of the Vasilopita by His-All Holiness for the Hellenic Community at the Monaco Yacht Club will be followed by a luncheon in his honor. A dinner will also be held in his honor at the Hermitage Hotel hosted by the newly invested Archons.
On Monday, January 23 Lunch in honor of His All-Holiness offered by the government at the Prime Minister’s residence, presided by Prince Albert of Monaco. There will be a visit to the Oceanographic Museum and Marine Biology Center with addresses on the environment by His All Holiness and Prince Albert of Monaco.

On Monday evening His All-Holiness and the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Monaco will participate in an Ecumenical service to mark the week of Common Prayer and Unity.

A dinner in honor of His All-Holiness will then be hosted by the Archon Delegation.
