William Patsios of Watertown, MA, Dies at 86

BOSTON – William Patsios of Watertown, MA passed away at the age 86. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Hanzis) Patsios, and devoted father of Charles W. Patsios and his wife Maria, and Patricia Patsios Lazares and her husband John. William was also a loving grandfather of Gus and Eleni Lazares and William, Andrew and Eleni Patsios. He was brother of Arthur Patsios and his wife Toula, and the late George Patsiokostas and his wife Helen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

William was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian and dedicated many hours to serving his beloved church whether helping with the landscaping, making salads for the church festival, or participating in the choir. He was an officer and dedicated member of the AHEPA Harris J. Booras Chapter #406 where he was extremely active in promoting his Hellenic culture and roots.

He was very active in the matters of the Greek-American Community of Boston and every year the first one to contribute to the Greek parade organized by the Federation of the Hellenic American Societies of New England. He was honored by the Federation at its official celebration at the Massachusetts State House in March of 2018.

He wrote and published his own autobiography, My Life as an Old Photograph, where he described growing up in his beloved village in Aspropyrgos, Evritania, Greece and his journey to the United States. He had an infectious sense of humor and a zest for life. His family was the focal point of his life and he was very proud of his legacy.

Funeral services were held at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, in Watertown and his burial in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown. In lieu of flowers donations in Williams’s memory may be made to Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church of Watertown.
