ATHENS - Main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Sunday encouraged voters to participate in the second round of local government elections in Greece and "this celebration of democracy," after exercising his own right to vote at his polling station in the Athens district of Kifissia.

"I call on the citizens today also to come and vote for mayors and regional governors. To participate in this celebration of democracy, especially in those cases where there is only one ballot box, in other words where the result has already been decided either on the level of regional government or municipality, in the first round," he said.
