NEW YORK – Greece is a top summer destination and airlines and travel companies are scrambling to keep up with the demand as people begin planning their vacations. Two German airlines, Lufthansa and Condor, are adding flights to Greece, Simple Flying reported on December 1. The British travel company Jet2Holidays announced on December 2 its expanded flights and destinations in Greece for summer 2020.
Beginning on May 1, 2020, Condor will offer its customers direct flights to Santorini, Mykonos, and Samos. Condor CEO Ralf Teckentrup said in statement from the airline, “With the new destinations…we are expanding our route network and offering our guests even more choices for their summer holiday,” Simple Flying reported.
“The airline will fly once a week to Mykonos from Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich airports and will fly twice a week from the same airports to the island of Santorini. It also currently operates between Stuttgart and Samos but it hopes to expand the connection to Samos between Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich as well,” Simple Flying reported.
Lufthansa’s Greek flights will take off from Frankfurt and Munich, Simple Flying reported, adding that “the airline has plans to add Rhodes and Zakynthos to its network, starting on April 4, 2020. Initially, it will fly both services once a week but as demand increases, so will the services.”
Simple Flying reported that “Lufthansa will fly between Munich and Zakynthos every Saturday on one of its Airbus A321 on the following schedule:
- Departing Munich on Saturdays at 2:45 PM, arriving in Zakynthos at 6 PM.
