NEW YORK – The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) endorsed Assembly Member Aravella Simotas in her campaign for re-election in Assembly District 36 in northwest Queens.

Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, said, “Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas is dedicated to protecting the environment and combating climate change. Not only did she receive a perfect score of 100% on our 2019 State Environmental Scorecard, she also sponsored legislation to build a clean energy economy by creating tax incentives for green technology. Encouraging clean power and green jobs are one of NYLCV’s key priorities and that’s why we are proud to stand with Assemblywoman Simotas in her reelection. We urge voters in Assembly District 36 to cast their ballot for her on Election Day.”

“NYLCV has been working tirelessly to tackle climate change and I am proud to stand with them in this fight,” Assembly Member Simotas said. “I will continue advocating for strong environmental policies to help protect our environment for the enjoyment of future generations.”

Assembly Member Simotas has been a strong supporter of environmental justice reform. Her legislative accomplishments include passing a landmark bill making sweeping changes to New York’s employment law to strengthen protections against workplace harassment and discrimination.

Simotas has also been endorsed by Vote Mama, CWA, Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, 32BJ SEIU, LIUNA NY, 1199SEIU, Teamsters Local 831, Stonewall Democrats of NYC, and UFCW Local 1500. The primary will be held on June 23.
