The Diplomatic Community in New York Discusses Earth’s Future, April 21

NEW YORK – As the world prepares to celebrate Earth Day, ten Consulates based in New York gather to discuss the earth’s future, a statement declaring: “We all see climate, the environment, and sustainability as top priorities and wish to promote international cooperation on these issues.”

The digital conference, Earth Day- Global Forum, takes place on April 21 and features four webinars via Zoom: Bio-diversity, 12 PM; Renewables, 1 PM; Women & Climate Action, 2 PM; and Food Security, 4 PM.

The Consulate General of Greece in New York participates in the third webinar, Women & Climate Action, with Dr. Angeliki Kosmopoulou from the A.I. Laskaridis Foundation presenting its effort in the field of marine environment protection, SeaChange-Greek Islands: How small things can bring big change.

The Consulates participating in the event represent Israel, the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Greece, Finland, Canada, United Arab Emirates, and Australia.

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. On Earth Day 2020, over 100 million people around the world observed the 50th anniversary in what is referred to as the largest online mass mobilization in history https://www.earthday.org/.
