THESSALONIKI -- Τhe concentration of the SARS-CoV-2 viral load in Thessaloniki's sewage remained at the same levels according to the latest measurement, the research team conducting the study revealed on Thursday.

After the doubling of the viral load from samples taken on 5 and 7 February, the next samples showed a stabilisation at the already high levels.

"What we view as positive is that we do not observe an explosive increase so far, similar to the one recorded in autumn. We are monitoring the situation every day but currently we are not seeing an exponential growth of the virus in the community," stated the head of the research team, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki rector Nikos Papaioannou to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).
