ATHENS - Repeated infringements of the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) and flights over Greek islands by Turkish fighter jets continued for second consecutive day in the Aegean on Wednesday.

Following successive violations and flights over the islands of the Dodecanese on Tuesday, another pair of Turkish military aircraft flew over the islands of Fourni on Wednesday.

According to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), at 12:03 a pair of Turkish F-16s flew over the Anthropofagi islets at 19,000 feet, while at the same time another pair of Turkish F-16s flew over Anthropofagi and Makronissi at 10,000 feet. In both cases, the Turkish military aircraft did not submit a flight plan.

Greek fighter jets recognised and intercepted the Turkish F-16s, in accordance with international rules.
