ATHENS -- Another technical meeting on the response to the cold weather front will be held on Wednesday at 17:00 at "Olympos", the Greek fire brigade's mobile operations centre, with the participation of Deputy Civil Protection and Crises Management Minister Nikos Hardalias.
An evaluation of the progress made in the work underway, as well as the next actions to be taken to fully normalise the situation after the cold front will be the focus of the meeting.
Meanwhile. the snow that fell in Greece over the last few days was some of the heaviest on record for the last 40 years, the National Meteorological Service (EMY) said on Wednesday.
The total duration of snow fall in Attica was 36 hours, with the strongest intensity in the centre of Athens for 24 hours, resulting in 20-25 cm of snow. The snow started falling at dawn on Monday, February 15, in western and northern parts of Attica. During the second phase of the weather front the snow spread to other parts of the region, with heavy snow falling throughout Tuesday.
