ATHENS -- Attica Region Governor Giorgos Patoulis has ordered that in-person attendance of all primary and secondary schools operating on Thursday afternoon and evening be suspended, due to the bad weather. The regional authority will monitor the intensity of the weather and issue a further announcement on whether schools will open on Friday.

The decision was taken as a precaution due to an anticipated worsening of the weather and the difficulties in transport that this may cause.

Many Attica municipalities have already ordered the closure of all schools in their area on Friday, due to the worsening weather conditions. They include Acharnes, Nea Philadelphia-Nea Halkidona, Moschato-Tavros, Irakleio and Elefsina.
