Greek Police Carry Out Inspections against Overcrowding at Paros, Mykonos, Santorini

SANTORINI -- Police carried out extensive patrols across tourist establishments at the islands of Paros, Mykonos and Santorini over the weekend, in an attempt to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus by way of inadequate observance of preventive measures.

At Paros, six inspections were carried out in nightclubs, where police shut down a nightclub for 15 days as customers exceeded the allowed safety maximum and an administrative fine of 3,000 euros was issued. Some 5 arrests were made at Paros for violations related to noise pollution.

In Mykonos, an Italian national was arrested for throwing an overcrowded house party, while some 9 beach bars and 17 bars and clubs were also inspected at the island's main town. Two individuals related to a beach bar were arrested for not having a license to install beach beds, and another six people were arrested for violating laws pertaining to noise pollution.

In Santorini, 3 people were arrested for violations related to noise pollution after inspections in 7 bars and clubs.
