ATHENS - Greece reported 218 new cases of novel coronavirus detected throughout the country on Sunday, of which 39 were linked to known gatherings of people and 39 were detected during checks at the borders into the country.
According to a National Public Health Organisation (NPHO) announcement, this brings the total number of confirmed cases detected in Greece to 17,444 of which 55.8 pct are men. Of these, 2,825 (16.2 pct of the total) are considered to be linked to travel abroad and 7,242 (41.5 pct) are linked to other known cases.
There were 68 Covid-19 patients on ventilators in hospitals on Sunday, authorities announced, with a median age of 70, of which 16 were women (23.5 pct). Of those on ventilators, 86.8 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged above 70 years old. A total of 200 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from an ICU.
There were three more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths from Covid-19 in the country to 379, of which 142 were women. The median age of the patients that died was 78 years old, while 96.6 pct had either an underlying condition and/or were aged above 70 years old.
