ATHENS – In yet another sexually-charged allegation of cases in a number of sectors, a laboratory teaching Professor at Athens University (EKPA) was suspended after female students sexual harassment.

In keeping with Greek privacy laws that don't allow release of names – often ignored in cases involving celebrities or politicians – there was no identification and no details about what was supposed to have happened.

The newspaper Kathimerini though said the decision to suspend the professor was based on an investigation said to have confirmed the students complaints in January although no details were given.

The Senate referred the professor, who is a staff member at the Communication Department’s laboratory, to the institution’s disciplinary body which suspended him but it wasn't said for how long or if there could be further punishment.

A number of sex scandals in the arts and media and sports have swept across Greece, leading to the prosecution of the former director of Greece's National Theater and at least one prominent actor being named in the media.
