Greek Community Collecting First Aid Supplies for Relief Effort

BAYSIDE, NY – The Greek community is mobilizing for the relief effort with many groups and nonprofit organizations collecting donations and supplies to be shipped to Greece.

Laterna Restaurant in Bayside is among the collection points for supplies to be shipped to Greece for the fire relief effort.

Donations will be collected Friday, July 27-Sunday, July 29 at Laterna 47-20 Bell Boulevard in Bayside, 12-9 PM. For those who cannot make it to Laterna to deliver their donation of supplies, Amazon Prime packages may be shipped to the restaurant’s Bayside address- 47-20 Bell Blvd Bayside, NY 11361.

Ovelia Restaurant, 34-01 30th Avenue in Astoria, will also be collecting supplies on Friday, July 27, 10:30 PM, and through the weekend as well for those who cannot make it on Friday. More information about the Ovelia collection is available by phone 917-420-0774.

Both restaurants are coordinating with 9 H.U.G.S. (Help Us Give & Share), the nonprofit organization which, according to its mission statement, targets arising problems and assists children and families in need in order to develop and brighten a successful future.

Among the items needed are: baby first aid necessities, baby wipes, all types of first aid supplies- betadine, burn care dressing gauze, alcohol prep pads, Advil, cleaning wipes, bandages, eye care products, bandages, trauma wound care supplies, power and energy bars.

Please note: Baby clothes are not needed at this time.
