ATHENS - PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday spoke via teleconference with executives of Papoutsanis SA, a leading Greek manufacturer of soap and liquid cosmetics that will focus on antiseptics and disinfectants production in view of the unfolding coronavirus pandemic.

Following its own initiative, Papoutsanis received license from the Greek state in fast-track procedures to produce 150,000 pocket antiseptic bottles 24/7, with capacity for 250,000 over the same production time.

Mitsotakis stressed that is it important to be able to rely on domestic production as opposed to imports of essentials like antiseptics in the midst of a health crisis. He added that under normal circumstances bureaucratic procedures would have required up to a year to see this license being issued, and acknowledged the Ministry of Development for its speedy approval.
